Paddy Patzer’s Pile of Books

Paddy Patzer’s Pile of Books

“Buying books would be a good thing if one could also buy the time to read them in: but as a rule the purchase of books is mistaken for the appropriation of their contents.” Arthur Schopenhauer

I am (sort of) guilty of that mistake and I plan to do something about it!

Here goes, yours truly is making a commitment: I will read and review a selection of books from a Paddy Patzer’s perspective, the ordinary chess enthusiast who want to improve and have fun doing it.

I will totally ignore the technical side of chess book reviews (i.e. someone else will have to tell you if some GM did play another 19th move) and focus on the softer aspects of the book (i.e. did the book boost my enthusiasm about chess training). Credentials? Slim-to-none. I have reviewed a few science books in my days but this will be my first go at chess books.

Hopefully some of you will find this little project of mine useful.
