It's Fast, It's Fun, but Is It Chess?

Maybe it's the purist in me, or maybe it's because my record so far is 39:12-3-4. But is fast chess really chess? Shouldn't the outcome reflect the intelligence of the players instead of simply who managed not to run out of time first? I'm trying to keep an open mind and I may continue to dabble with it from time to time, but I've decided to go back to playing daily matches. And I'm going to play a lot fewer of those and spend most of my effort trying to get a handle on tactics.
