1: The board

Before you start playing any kind of chess, you need some kind of board. You probably seen a board before, but this is an example of a board:

After you get a board, you need to setup the board. This is an example of a setup board:

2: The pieces

Now, you didnt just come here to look at boards. What about the pieces?

1: The pawn  

This is a pawn

A pawn is worth 1 point. Here is how the pawn moves:

The pawn can move 2 spaces from the starting position.

2: The knight

The knight is worth 3 points. This is how it moves:

3: The bishop

This is a bishop. 

A bishop is also worth 3 points. This is how is moves:

4: The rook 

This is the rook. 

It is worth 5 points. It moves like this:

5: The queen

The queen is the most powerful piece on the board. It looks like this:

The queen is worth 9 points. It moves like this: 

6: The king 

The king is the slowest piece on the board. It looks like this:

You cannot play chess without a king. It moves like this:

3: Basic rules and tactics

1: Killing pieces

The white knight can now be black knight.
The pawn can capture the the knight.
The rook can capture the other rook.
The bishop can capture the white queen.
The queen can capture the black bishop.
The king can now kill the black rook.
And then there's this weird pawn move named en passant.
