Hello Chess Friends!

Today, we are going to see the 5 Opening principles in Chess.

This blog will be quite useful for students at the beginner level.

If you follow these 5 rules in your chess game you will be able to solve all your opening problems!

Lets move to the principles!

PRINCIPLE 1: CONTROL THE CENTER

In chess, the 4 important squares are e4,d4,e5,d5. Your first job is to control them with your pawns & then your minor pieces. The player who controls the center has more space in the game. Start by placing your pawns on those squares!

PRINCIPLE 2: DEVELOP YOUR MINOR PIECES

Bishop & Knight are called the minor pieces in a chess game. After controlling the center your next job is to develop those pieces rapidly. If you fail to do this, you will be lagging in development.

PRINCIPLE 3:KING SAFETY

King Safety is one of the important factors in a chess game. The easiest way safe your king in the openings is to castle.
There are 2 types:
a) Kingside
b) Queenside
On some rare occasions, it's better to keep the King in the center.

PRINCIPLE 4: CONNECT YOUR MAJOR PIECES

Queen & Rooks are known as major pieces. After following the first 3 principles, Your next job is to connect your major pieces. We can do that by developing them into central squares.

PRINCIPLE 5: PAWN BREAKS

Congrats! This is actually a bonus principle to remember. You have to look for a pawn break when your opponent doesn't follow the opening principles or When your opponent controls the center
