The road to ELO 2000: GM games, the amazing Mikhail Tal

One of my favorite players is ex world chess champion Mikhail Tal. Tal was a fantasic attacker and loved to enter into complicated positions in order to confuse his opponents. Sadly, his health did not allow him to compete at the highest levels for very long, and his reign as World Champion was short lived.

Still, decades onwards, his games still inspire chess players like me to continue to strive for beautiful attacking play.

The game below shows his incredible ability to spot an attack. =)

Thanks for the games Mikhail Tal! You will be missed.
