Surviving a lost rook pawns endgame being two pawns down!
This is a rapid 10+0 game. I had the chance to take a significant advantage in the early middlegame, but in a complicated high "danger levels" position I did not manage to find the correct move and soon we went to a drawable rooks pawns endgame in which I was a pawn down. However, I got blinded and blundered a second pawn. Now my position was completely lost as my strong 1952 rated opponent had two connected passed pawns supported by 2 rooks...
I tried to counterattack, and decreased for a moment the disadvantage, but soon I was again -4 to -5, completely lost. My opponent seemed to know the correct setup to promote his two connected passed pawns, BUT when I took his one isolated pawn he got greedy and decided to take back. This gave me the chance to capture one of his two connected passed pawns and since my king was more active I was able to draw the game as his pawn could not promote and soon was captured.
Rook pawn endgames are trickie. Even 1950 players can miss the chance to win! Never, forget that the following setup gives you a certain win:
