KOTH- Positioning
This KOTH post will talk about the importance of solid positioning. The good thing is, KOTH positioning is exactly similar to standard chess- just control the center.
KOTH is easy to win if you have better positioning than your opponent. The way i like to think of KOTH position is a tower of jenga blocks. You have to build it up and make sure that your pieces being traded away or removed do not cause your game to come crashing to the ground.
That comic strip i read in the newspaper 2 days ago is a perfect example of a KOTH game gone wrong. Replace your life with a chess position, and teeth and healthcare and sanity with pieces. Your will to get up is the game. The small things can lead to big problems in KOTH. For example, a pawn pushed right down your throat.
This can be a major problem for anyone, having a non-removable pawn stuck close to your pieces. It squashes your position to the point that you have to develop around it, pushing you to the edges of the board.
Here is a list of where pieces should go:
Knights: Develop toward the center, then sometimes move to center 4 squares
Bishops: Attacking knights, or controlling the center squares
Here is a diagram showing why to attack the knights:
Doubled pawns are hard to deal with in KOTH
Rooks- Control the center files in the endgame
Pawns- c,d,e, and f pawns are pushed into the center, the rest protect them
Queen- Reinforces your pieces and is an excellent attack
I will update this later, i gtg to school. Thx for reading
