Fairy Chess Piece-Amazon
What kind of Fairy chess piece is it? Is it the popular online shopping website, or the largest rainforest of the world?
It's none of them!
Instead, it's a Fairy chess piece that is considered to be one of the strongest in all Fairy chess pieces. It's a piece that is combined with Knight and Queen, and can move like both of them. It's also known as Queen+Knight compound.
That's it makes it so strong and dangerous. I would describe it as killer.

Movement
As I mentioned earlier, the Amazon can move like Knight and Queen. Here is a diagram to help you understand.
This piece just moves like normal Queen, but if you observe carefully, it can also has moves like Knight! It can cover 35 squares when placed on the center of board! Amazing!
History
Amazon has been described a lot. It has got many names and has a very long history. It is believed that it was first used by Turks in Turkish Great Chess(a chess variant) and was called 'giraffe'. To replace the Ferz(another fairy piece which we will explore later maybe), Amazon was tried to be used in Middle Ages. It also competed what we call the Queen and it lost due to the amount of power. Many players didn't like the movement of Amazon. They didn't thought it could gallop like the knight.
However, in 19th Century, a chess variant in India called Maharajah and the Sepoys was created. In this game, Black has a full, standard army whereas White has only one: the maharajah(meaning great ruler) which we call the Amazon!
The value of Amazon is somewhat estimated to be 11-12 points, more than the Queen! Other names for it are giraffe, maharajah, angel, and commander. Remember, it can even checkmate without the help of any other piece.
Where can I play this Fairy piece?
You play the Amazon Jungle.
That's It. Thank you for reading!
