Viswanathan Anand, nicknamed the 'Tiger from Madras', the world champion recovered from a crushing loss in the first match of his World Chess Championship defence against Veselin Topalov to win the second and the fourth game, and take the lead in the match 2.5-1.5. The pressure is on the Bulgarian to now equalise, and another loss will be disastrous for him, especially as the match is only 12 games long.

Topalov had the white pieces in game 5, and, after an interesting battle, the players agreed to a draw, which means Anand led the match 3-2.
