To lose or not to lose my favourite bishop

Nov 22, 2012, 4:06 PM 0

Here is a Sicilian that I played. On the 13. move, this position was reached:

In the previous couple of moves, I have somewhat tried to give my dark bishop more power, by clearing his diagonal. Was this a poor thing to do, as white still had a bishop of the same color?
I chose my next move to be irrelevant from the bishop situation, as I understand that the strength of both bishops here is equal, and there will either be both or none (and I can always take his later), so I thought this would be a loss of tempo. (I set my next goal here to open the a-file).
Should black do anything here pertaining to the bishop situation?
