What are backward pawns

Hello everyone welcome to another blog and today I will be telling you what is a backward pawn is. Well..... some of you may already know what a backward pawn is, so skip this blog if you want to.

Definition

The definition of a backward pawn is that can not move forward without being captured and it i not protected by and pawn. Most of the time it is one step lower than it's left of right.

                                                Whites pawn on e4 is a backward pawn

You see that the pawn on e4 is not such a good pawn and that is what happens in most the time.
