What are Gukesh's chances of winning the world championship?
Hello everybody!!! This is @harichess01
Before we start, Let's have an overview on Gukesh D and Ding Liren !!!!!!
Gukesh D:
In Round 10 of the 2024 FIDE Candidates, GM Gukesh Dommaraju made a draw against GM Ian Nepomniachtchi to keep his first place on the standings board. In a recent interview with World Chess, Gukesh talks about his experiences as a grandmaster and professional chess player in India, including the pressure he faced in obtaining his title at a young age. He also shares his views on the roles of Magnus Carlsen and Viswanathan Anand in his development as a player to close his interview with some insights into his daily routine, his interests in music and series, and his future plans.
Ding Liren:
Ding Liren won the World Chess Championship 2023 and became the 17th World Champion. It's been 200 days since the last game of chess that he has played publicly. The question on everyone's mind is - Where is Ding Liren and what is he up to? There have been very few interviews where the Chinese GM has given his thoughts on the match and the moves that he has played. In 2019, Ding Liren visited India for the Tata Steel Chess India Rapid and Blitz 2019 which was part of the Grand Chess Tour. He managed to beat Magnus Carlsen in both the blitz games - with white as well as with black.
Now let's look at a game between these two Super GM's !!
Gukesh D vs Ding Liren
This game was played in the Tata steel masters 2024, where the Chinese GM managed to outwit the young Indian prodigy
The surprising fact here is that Gukesh has played against the Chinese GM only twice which resulted in Ding's favour
Magnus Carlsen's comment on Ding Liren
GM Magnus Carlsen says he fears that reigning World Champion Ding Liren could be 'permanently broken' and fail to recover after his world championship victory. At the same time he praised the 17-year-old Candidates Tournament winner GM Gukesh Dommaraju.
Ding took half a year off from chess after his eighth place in the Superbet Chess Classic just after the 2023 world championship match, later revealing to Chess.com that he had suffered from undisclosed health issues. He has admitted to struggling with motivation, and hinted at considering retirement.
His return in Tata Steel Chess in January saw a performance far below his usual level, followed by a disaster in the Freestyle Chess G.O.A.T Challenge in February, where he shockingly didn't win a single game, losing 10 out of 13 games.
