GothamChess. GothamChess, the alias of Levy Rozman, is a renowned American International Master and chess content creator, widely regarded as "The Internet's Chess Teacher."
Background
Levy Rozman was born on December 5, 1995, in Brooklyn, New York, to a Russian-Ukrainian immigrant family. He began playing chess at the age of five and  achieved a FIDE rating of 2000 by the age of 12, which is a very young age. He became a National Master at 16 and later earned the title of International Master (IM) in 2018, reaching a peak Elo rating of 2421  .
Rise to Fame
GothamChess gained popularity primarily through online platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic. His YouTube channel became the first chess channel to surpass one billion views, reflecting his effective teaching style and engaging content. As of early 2025, he has 6 million subscribers and more than 3.3 billion views on YouTube. Also, he has a video which has over 20 million views, which is such a feat to the chess community. 

. His Twitch streams and other social media platforms also contribute to his growing audience, establishing him as a significant figure in the chess community.
Teaching and Content Creation
Gothamchess's content focuses on making chess approachable, offering tutorials, game analyses, and commentary that cater to players of all skill levels. His educational approach is characterized by clarity and humor (like that part when he starts singing), helping to break down complex strategies into understandable lessons. He also runs a chess courses platform called Chessly, which offers various educational materials for aspiring chess players, allowing them to learn more things.

Sometimes, he would make eye-catching thumbnails, and also make up some songs (aka Rook B1) also, he would do something funny, and make the audience laugh. Plus, in late 2025, he is going to battle against the world in chess! Isn't that exciting?
