A lost word

Why isn't the word "collocation" used more often in chess didactics (teaching and instruction on strategy)?

"Collocation" is defined as "placing objects next to one another in order to make an overall position."  I think that describes chess very well. This probably happens because of the importance placed on over the board play rather than deduction from already established knowledge about chess. In my opinion, I study first then play after?
