YouTube is a great resource to learn chess. You should know the best channels to learn it from. Here are some recommendations. I've updated it to be a well rounded guide to improving with resources.

1. GothamChess- Our beloved IM Levy Rozman is one of the best chess teachers out there. He explains it really well and makes it entertaining. (Recommended for beginners, as he is entertaining, but you wont become a decent player if you watch only him)

2. Hanging Pawns(Top Recommendation)- This channel is really good even for advanced players. He studies Grandmaster games and makes opening, middlegame and endgame videos that are really well explained and well rounded. My favorite is his complete sicilian guide. The way he teaches is absolute best because of the way he structures the videos, Definitely check it out through his playlists section.

3. Chess Vibes- This one is also great for beginners. He teaches you everything you need. His opening courses are pretty solid too, but not that good for structured learning.

4. Daniel Naroditsky-(Another TOP recommendation) - His speedrun series is extremely insightful with the way he teaches. He is a top Grandmaster with peak rating of 2647 though he has been inactive in the professional environment for a while.

BASED ON THE SUGGESTIONS FROM THE READERS:
1. Chessscape- Explains really well, but for structured learning i still recommend Hanging Pawns.
2. Top Chess- well, some of his videos feel really weird but its upto you, if you don't like the others, u can check him out.

Also Hikaru's speedruns can be pretty helpful but i don't really like the way he explains and doesn't go into different variations, also spends time talking with his audience which can go off course at times.

You obviously cannot improve by just watching videos, you need to keep drilling puzzles and build a solid base with pattern recognition and review your games. Some free resources you'll absolutely need:
1. Puzzles- Use Lichess.org or chesstempo.com as they provide free puzzles with no limit
2. Game Reviews- There are some free review websites that should pop up when u search for it, but the explanations can be slightly lacking but it is better than nothing.

EXTRA:
I recently found the courses section in this website has free courses for all skill levels, there's one I liked in particular by CM Can Cabadayi. Its pretty good even for intermediate players. You can find it here.

Remember, it's not about making one huge change, but 1000 small improvements to get better.
