Ding explodes the London System

If you're a Chess player and haven't been sleeping under a rock, you've probably already heard that Ding Liren used the London System in Game 6 of the FIDE World Championship Tournament, and he won with it.

You'll have to excuse me for this, but I think that's a bit of a shame. Even as a relatively new and low level player that system has been a big part of my progress. Many low level players didn't seem to know how to play it, or counter it which was good for my ELO rating early on.

That's probably going to change very quickly, and I mean "this afternoon". The London could become popular with new players, as popular as the Queen's Gambit, after that movie came out.

Another prediction? I'll say that we're likely to see large numbers of "anti-London" videos from various GM types, also "this afternoon". I'm willing to bet the first will come from Gotham Chess. Knowing Levy he'll probably use a picture of a Buckingham Palace Guard face down in the dirt as his lead graphic.

Not particularly subtle but who ever has accused Levy Rozman of being subtle about anything graphic?

To make my point, let me include a game I played last year, using the London System.

This was from August.
