Fair Play Survey

Chess.com released the results of their Fair Play Survey from a couple of weeks ago and the results are pretty mixed. One thing that stands out are the responses to, "Do  you think chess is facing a 'crisis' due to cheating?".

The results to the question are pretty conclusive with the combination of "No" and "No, but only if something is done about it soon" far outnumbers those players who voted "Yes". The lowest ranked members had the highest numbers of "Yes" voters while the top players had the lowest number of "Yes" voters.

That would suggest to me that we're seeing more cheaters at the lower ranks, than among top players. I've found a few (and reported them), and even recently got refunded ELO points from a game I lost, but hadn't reported.

Beyond that question the player opinions were very mixed. Here is the link to the results so you can read for yourself; https://www.chess.com/blog/CHESScom/fair-play-survey-results.

In the summary Chess.com wrote, "Most respondents did feel that Chess.com was doing a good job addressing cheating but that there is clear space for improvement.", which I agree with, particularly that bit about "clear space for improvement".

I'm barely 600 - 700 level. Who really needs to cheat against those levels? But, it's happening.
