Lucaschess is a GREAT free chess program

First of all, here is a link:

I've downloaded about every free chess program there is.  I have found many of them. I read of this one on the forum on this site and checked it out.  I'm a lazy blogger, so here are some features I see in the menu:

  • Can play against the engine and many different levels.
  • Has tactics built in
  • Many "Mate" tactics (move in 1, 2, 3, 4, etc)
  • Basically there are a lot of built in training programs for free
  • A great Tutor.  When you play a game, if you make a move that isn't good, then the program pops up 2 windows.  One shows you the move on a board you should make and the other the move you are making.  You can go forward on each board to move through the analysis.

Check it out.
