Blog 11 Cat Jump Scares!

If you don’t already know, cats have an incredible talent for jump-scaring you. This becomes even clearer when you have an orange cat with the brain cells of a fish.

To fully understand this story, some context is needed: where we live, there are badgers, foxes, and snakes. This means we don’t let our cat Joey out at night and always bring him in before bed.

One night, Joey wasn’t in the house, so we went outside calling his name. When there was no response, we walked all the way to the back of our property—which is very far from the house.

When we got there, we called his name again. This time, we saw a pair of glowing red eyes… staring right at us. A bit worried, we called his name once more. Then it charged toward us. In the dark, it looked huge. When it got close, it jumped at us, making a strange noise.

That’s when we realized it was just our cat… meowing with a leaf in his mouth. (He’s a big cat.)
