Blog 7 The Meeting

This blog is about how our two cats—our younger one, Joey, and our older cat, Shadow—first met.

For context, Shadow was a stray, so she was very distrustful and didn’t like other cats. Because of this, we introduced them in our basement in a controlled environment, with water guns at the ready.

We let Joey out of his cage, and he walked over to Shadow and rolled onto his back. This was a sign of respect toward the older cat. Shadow, being her classic self, walked over, hissed at him, then jumped back onto a table and stared him down, scaring the wits out of Joey.

After that, we kept them separated—Joey in his own room and Shadow in the rest of the house. She still tried to scare him through the door. They met every so often like this until Shadow finally decided she was fine with him and that beating him up was too much work.
