Return To Chess 2---The First Day Back
Hey, everyone. Thanks so much for all of y'all who provided great feedback on yesterday's blog. I really appreciate those who had positive words. Today was day 1 of my training, and although it was difficult, I am proud above all to say that I had a lot of fun playing chess seriously again.
I started off with solving 10 of Chess.com's tactics, which took me about 30 minutes and was the accompanying video for today. Unlike previously, in which I flew through puzzles, not taking a second thought whether I got each one correct or not, I decided to solve each one thoroughly, talking through my thought process. I know that he likely won't see this, but I'd like to give a huge thank you to my friend Will, whose puzzle-solving skills really inspired me to go into a deeper train of thought. It definitely helped, and I think these puzzles will be my warm-up from now on.
The second thing I did was to look at all of my chess opening repertoires that I made in the past, being very selective on what I focused on. I decided to narrow my focus to one variation in order to get the best results. For this method, I would like to thank Stjepan from the YouTube channel "Hanging Pawns," as his video regarding advice on constructing an opening repertoire really helped in my focus for today. I did this training for 30 minutes on my work break.
Finally, I am going to play one or two training games later tonight, analyzing each one with a physical board, seeing what I can improve upon. Hope you enjoyed this blog.
