Back to Climbing!
Wow.
It has been three, probably four years since I've been on chess.com. My goodness...
I'll confess, I did not play chess at all while I was gone. I went into a couple video games, namely Team Fortress 2 and League of Legends, and now I'm back! To be honest, the one thing I miss most about chess.com, other than actually playing chess, is writing my blog entry. Sure, I only wrote 5 blogs before I left. But it really reminds me that I truly, truly love writing, and all the pain that comes with it.
Anyways, it's good to be back. Seeing my blog is titled "Climbing New Peaks" really takes me back. I remember all about my relatively childish thoughts when I was 16. I remember the infatuation I had with chess, and the tactics and strategies and openings and all the intricacies which I learned and now have mostly forgotten. I look back at my old games in my blog entries, and daaaaaaaang I can't do that now. But I guess, for better or for worse, I'm climbing the peak again...so won't you join me?
The mountain you see in the picture is called K2. No, I'm serious...it's a letter, followed by a number. It's the second highest peak on earth, merely 237 meters shorter than the famed Everest. Known as The Savage Mountain, K2 is known for it's difficult climb and high fatality rate. And an absolutely astounding fact is that unlike all the other tall and famous mountains conquered by humans, K2 has never, I repeat never, been climbed successfully in the wintertime.
My climb back into chess will be savage. It won't be pretty. I probably won't get back to my former level. But I'm sure that I will improve, bit by bit, if not by talent, then by experience.
So the first thing I do? Hop on live chess and play a 2|1 blitz game!
Enjoy, and a HUGE HI THERE to all of you!
Please leave your thoughts and comments! They are much appreciated. Thanks.
