Georgia State championship

I recently took part in the Georgia State championship and was an interesting event in many ways. I saw quite a few players I haven't seen in quite some time. It reminded me of the old days of the Atlanta Chess and Games center. So many memories. Many of my old rivals don't play anymore so it was nice to see some familiar faces from the old days....even if we didn't get a chance to talk much.

As for my tournament......I finished with a disappointing 2.5/5.0. My play was uneven in the early rounds which included a disappointing draw, a surprising win, and a loss where I played very dubiously. Following this loss I lost another game where I didn't make the most of my opportunities. However, in the last round I was able to play a good game and this is the game I would like to show.

Following this tournament, I played in the monthly quad at the Holiday Inn Express where I won 2 out of 3. Both of the wins were decided in the endgame. The trend of winning in the endgame continues. Here is the better of the two.
