Known as the Lucena manuscript, the oldest existing printed book on chess mentioned castling in 1497. Castling, that special same-time moving of a king and rook, was not known in the Arab game of chess. Lucena's work, published in Spain, was titled Repeticion de amores y arte de Axedres and was actually divided into two sections: one half was on chess; the other half, on love!
