TeeterPal Chess Class Review
TeeterPal Chess Class Review
TeeterPal Chess Club. You've probably heard me talk about this great chess club hosted by GM Gorovets and TeeterPal. The chess club has over 200 members and was created on May 21st, 2020. They do one tournament, sometimes two tournaments, every day, and mostly 15-minute games. TeeterPal, Is mostly known by people for its classes on WeChat, a mobile phone app.
TeeterPal Zoom Classes
TeeterPal Chess Club also does zoom classes, which you sign up for on their website. Here is the link if you are interested. TeeterPal Zoom Classes. TeeterPal's company does a variety of classes from coding to chess, and baking.
In TeeterPal's chess classes, you can do levels one and two. Others, I have not heard of. In level one, you do puzzles and learn a few tactics. You train alongside a teacher, hired by TeeterPal on chess.com. In level two, you get to train alongside a grandmaster. No, not GM Hikaru, or GM Magnus Carlsen. Yes, you train alongside GM Andrey Gorovets. You practice doing puzzles and analyze games, much better than level one. Today I had just finished my class, on St. Patrick's day, 2021. We do some training for around forty minutes and then do a tournament. GM Gorovets, his chess.com username GMG, went through talking about the different positions in our games as we played each other. Yes, this class was free for me because I am supposed to write this review, and yes, you probably didn't think that. Enough of the messing around. Let's get back to this review. The classes can be chosen to either be private or public meaning that it could be just you, or you and other people as well. Previously my mother had paid for level one, around December 2020 so I will be talking more about two classes. Here are some similarities and differences (I did this yesterday in school so that's how I got the idea).
SIMILARITIES
- Both had high rated level coaches
- Both had puzzles
- Both are paid with about the same amount of money but maybe slightly different
- Both were great classes with a great explanation for the lessons
- If it were public classes (other kids in class too) it would be way too loud in both classes
- You would need to know how to play the game of chess
DIFFERENCES
- The second level has a GM teacher
- Tournaments during the classes were only done in public
- The first level would have kids that had just begun chess
There are way more similarities than differences in the chess class. I can still recommend level two to many of you who are looking for a chess class.
What we did in today's level two class
We did a variety of things from puzzles, to analyzing games, and also playing games. At the beginning of the class, we did some easy puzzles which we were given hints by Andrey. Later on, we were analyzing his game vs GothamChess, which was brought up by him after he remembered me telling him that he had played Gotham. I was actually really surprised that GothamChess, one of my favorite chess YouTubers put Andrey Gorovet's in one of his videos. He used to just make videos about openings, and trash play by other players. Anyways, we analyzed a game in which Andrey had beaten Gotham, and then followed on to doing the tournament. In the TeeterPal chess tournament, I had first been paired with someone around the rating of 950. Here is the game.
I will not give the info of the username, but I will give you mine. In the end, I had drawn with him by agreement even though I had a queen. I had felt as if I had just no good position. I had also made many mistakes throughout the tournament. This game just made me nervous. By the next two games, I had felt way more comfortable.
Let's go back to talking about this club.
