Up two
I've won two games already in the 6th tournament. Both games were against the same opponent. I think my opponent just slipped or got carried away with taking material, because they left themselves wide open in both games to simple checkmates.
In one of the games, I was one move away from checkmate (Qa1 after I castled) but I had the next move and put my opponent in check. From there, it was a series of checks. My opponent had the option to trade their Q for my N and save their game, but they chose to move their K instead and that was the move I needed to seal the win.
I almost panicked a little because I was losing material so fast, but I saw my opponent's weak spot and knew I only needed to do two things: protect my K, and get my Q and N into place. Any pieces I lost in the meantime were irrelevant. I got over the lost material and just focused on doing my thing and it paid off.
I'm looking forward to the rest of the tournament!
