Everything but the Girl
Today the themes of the lessons I taught to my students were on Square Control, Improving your position quietly and Anticipation of threats. Positional stuff aiming at helping them make good strategic decisions. But while I had some time before the next lesson, of course it's online blitz for half an hour. So should I try to play what I teach?
The fun part about online blitz (if you don't care about your rating too much) is you can bang out anything and play anyway you like. Don't tank your games of course or the server will ban you in good time. And today, it was Machete mode as you can see from the blitz game I played. I practically sacrificed everything I had...except the Queen. The quality of the game was bad (Chess.com's Game review rated my play at 2100) but I haven't had so much fun in a blitz game for quite a while!
And the title, it refers to me sacrificing (or trying to sac) every piece in the game except for the Queen. It is also the name of an 80s English pop duo which had some hit songs (eg 'I don't want to talk about it) and recently made a successful comeback.
