Colombian Chess
Hello everyone, in my first blog post I'm gonna give you a bit of facts about Colombian Chess.
Many people don't know what Colombia is, but the chess is a way to popularize cultures, countries and that's the purpose of this post. According to the IDRD of Bogota, chess arrived to Latin-America in the 14th century when the Spanish conquistadors arrested Atahualpa and teach him how to play European games included chess. At the beginning of the 18th century, chess in Colombia was considered a high class game.
Through the years, chess popularized between the Bogota's citizens, between 1940 a group of people in Bogota who met to play chess, that's how FECODAZ was created.
Nowadays, chess is practiced in Colombia in many ways, from chess hustlers in the Bogota center to classic tournaments between strong players.
Finally, let me show you a really interesting game played between two colombian players.
