Dear chess lovers, in this second blog post about Najdorf we present you with their first meeting, at Groningen, 1946. This game was won by Najdorf, and there is a story attached to it.

"This is Najdorf's very famous win against the future World Champion, and it was a cause of perpetual hatred on Botvinnik's part. The point is that before the game, Najdorf approached Salo Flohr (Botvinnik's second), and offered to bet 500 guilders that he would win! Assuredly a small case of "anti-social behaviour" in chess!"
