Have you ever thought about that chess can be link to intelligence, especially to mathematical - logical intelligence? I have, in this article I would like to write some of my ideas why I think chess is linked to intelligence.

Firstly, chess is about finding best moves as possible, every game you play you should have a plan and strategy. Chess also requires concentration, maybe some psychology (you should be able to read your opponent), memory, motivation... there are a lot of things that can make you possibly good chess player.

But how do you find good move? How do you just know you made good move? Is it something that you can feel or is it something that you know based on your calculation? The answer might be that it could be both. I think there are players who have really great intution, so when they make move they just feel it it is good move and that it can make their position better. But there are also people, who make moves based on their calculations. These people seem to analyze whole board, they probably can see a lot of variations...

In the history there were a lot of Mathematicians who played chess.

For example Georgy Adelson - Velsky, Soviet Mathematician who was the developer of Kaissa (chess program).

.

Or George Bidell Airy - English astronomer and Mathematician. He was professor at Trinity college, Cambridge. He was also profficient at chess.

Maybe there is something about it, there were even studies about this topic, such as Frydman´s and Lynn´s. They came up with an idea that population that is playing chess is more intelligent. So is it like that chess is mostly attractive for intelligent individuals? What do you think? Let me know in the comment section please.
