The Future: Chess Needs More Artists

I read a quote yesterday that has continued to ring in my mind:

“Artists are simply people who are passionate enough to imagine things that do not yet exist.” Seona Reid, Principal of Glasgow School of Art, graduation address spring 2004.

What if the best days of chess are ahead because chess "artists" are being born and trained OTB and online? What if their passion leads them to imagine middle games not yet played? What if our multisensory, multiple-input younger generation manages to "see" farther ahead in the game than players today? What if their computations skills exceed even Bobby Fischer? What if their abilities rival computers?

What chess needs is more artists! How passionate are you willing to be?
