The road to Grand master;-
The highest Title awarded in a chess is Grand master, which is given by FIDE (Federation Internale Des Echecs).
In order to get the Grand master title, a player generally needs to get 3 GM-norms (with some exceptions again during some official tournaments). On top of that, your FIDE rating has to have passed 2500 at some point in demand to become a Grand master.
It's not just 8-10 years, but 8-10 years of serious dedication to chess, on the order of hours per day. Without such an intense devotion, it will take longer or perhaps never happen.
Yes, it’s a process of hard work not only by you but must be followed by generation to generation. In an initial period there are mostly senior chess player all over the nook and corner of the streets who likes to play their whole life aimlessly. After some period of time the country will get national chess federation who will organize and introduced them international rules and regulation. Wisdom of first section is done.
You will see some differences, some new players are also joining the group and seniors are passing their experience. Slowly numbers of chess players are increasing and one kind of base is formed. Then with the initiation of federation these groups starts playing national and international events which will enhance their skills and succeed to create kind of awareness of chess among the youngsters. Still it’s a starting phase until country will not get 100 rated players. This is the base of chess pyramid of one nation from where the development will start.
On the second phase country will get 2200 rated players and few FM’s by organizing official events but breakthrough will come when there are 20 FMs. This is where federation, government and private sectors should take initiation to push further by providing coach and more facilities to the elite group otherwise development will be block. If hard work of players and federation’s target will meet then it comes the new era ERA of IM.
On the third phase everything should be triple than second phase in the sense of number of players, organization, facilities and sponsors as well. To reach the era of GM it will take more energy and time than any others phase. Once, if it starts to become one GM from the crowd of players then the door will open for further players. Here worth mentioning about the chess prodigy is exception because it happens once in a blue moon. This is how you-we will get GM.
