The Problem of Henri Grob (Along with Grob Opening)
Hello everyone!
Today we are going to explore Henri Grob and his own invention: the Grob Opening.
You read the title. It seems like this blog is off-topic. In fact, it is about how to refute the Grob Opening. It is a really good opening to know because there's the Grob Gambit Trap, and if you, as black, answer incorrectly, white will have the advantage.
So let's get started.
The idea is really simple: you want to strengthen the center. By controlling it, white will have a hard time developing and you can start to attack.

I wondered about why Henri Grob played this opening. As I did some research on him, I found some interesting facts.
Henri Grob (6/4/1904 - 7/5?/1974) is a Swiss International Master and a two-time Swiss chess champion. He played for Switzerland in the Chess Olympiad four times. He is most known for his own invention --- the Grob Opening.
According to him, he married nine times.
Are you serious??????????????
Say he is being honest. Why would he divorce eight times?
This shows that he is not normal.
If he is lying, he is not being normal also.
So conclusion: he is messed up.
And we can see it through his own invention, which failed miserably. It has a terrible win rate and it is against opening principles.
So this is it! Hope you learned something about Henri Grob Opening. Make sure not to fall into the Grob Gambit Trap!
Have a nice day!
