WHO'S WHO IN CHESS-IM ALICIA LEE

On June 10, 2023, Alice Lee became the Youngest American Born Female to achieve the rank of International Master. This young prodigy moved her first pawn at the age of 6 in her school chess club where her brother was already playing. A three-time world youth champion and two time American cup runner up, she is the number 2 rated female player in the USA and the Americas. At 13, Lee's FIDE rating reached 2391 making her the number 58th rated female player worldwide across all ages.

In 2023 at the Pro Chess League, she took down two grand masters: Mathias Bluebaum and Bogdan-Daniel Deac before fighting GM Hikaru Nakamura to a draw in the quarter-finals.

Lee's textbook opening drew a response from Nakamura which saw him use a Dutch Defense against her attack. Slightly outplayed in the opening, Nakamura would hold court on the f5 square in the end forcing a draw by repetition. Check out the action below.
