London Madness

I'm not much of a blitz player. I'm just too slow and methodical, and I have very little experience playing fast time controls. I'm much stronger at longer time controls. Still, I enjoy an occasional game and I am trying to improve. Every once in a while I have a pretty good game.

That was the case in a game tonight. I was fortunate in that I had a pretty solid idea of the ideas for the opening, and my opponent didn't throw any huge monkey wrenches into the works. I got a big time advantage as well, and that helped me out too, with my opponent making a couple key mistakes.

I did miss a key tactic where 15. Bxg6 would have been devastating. I even considered that something might be there. I probably should have spent some of my time advantage thinking it through. But I already had a winning position and didn't feel like taking the risk.

I think what I was happiest about in this game is that I had good time management.
