I found a cache of old chess archives on the internet. The openings are interesting enough for a second look. Game #2Now 1.e4 b6 2.d4 Bb7 3.Bd3 e6 4.Nh3 Nf6 5.f3 c5 6.c3 Nc6 7.Be3 d5 8.e5 Nd7 9.O-O Be7 10.Nd2 is comfortably balanced, but 10.Na3 is as strong as it is ridiculously awkward. after 10...a6 11.f4 g6 12.Ng5 cxd4 13. cxd4 White can get better than a draw. My Chess Arena 3.0 calls this opening C05 French: Tarrasch Botvinnik, and it's worth a second look.
