Mongolia's Girls Team I was a force to be reckoned with throughout the tournament, securing the top spot with an impressive score of 17 match points out of a possible 18 games. They dominated their matches, securing victories in all but one, where they settled for a draw against the Sri Lanka Girls A team. Their victories included a 2 ½ - 1 1/2 win against Mongolia Team II, a flawless 4-0 win against Iran Team B, and an impressive 3 ½ - ½ win against the Philippines in the final rounds. The Silver medals in both categories were earned by Iran Chess Teams. Iran Team A showcased positive chess throughout the championship, securing 14 match points out of 18 to claim the Silver Medal in the Open category. They displayed their skills with a 4-0 win against Palestine, a 3-1 win against Malaysia Avengers, and a 3-1 win against Mongolia Team I in the final rounds. They even managed to secure a draw against the champions, India, in the 5th round. Movahead Jena emerged as the highest scorer for Iran with an impressive 7 ½ points.
In the Girls' category, Iran Girls' Team secured 15 match points to claim the Silver Medal. They secured victories against Sri Lanka A (2 ½ - 1 ½), India B (3-1), and Bangladesh (3 ½ - ½) in the final rounds. A remarkable achievement for the Iranian teams! 🥈🌟
The Bronze Medal in the Open category was won by Malaysia Avengers, who scored 12 match points. They displayed their skills with wins against Oman A (4-0), Palestine (3 ½ - ½), Bangladesh (3-1), Indonesia (3-1), and Sri Lanka A (3-1). The Asian Nations Cup for Under 14 Years (Open and Girls) was organized by the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka on March 27th, 28th, and 29th, 2021, held on the Chess.com platform. Over 50 teams from 20 Asian countries participated in the event, showcasing the immense talent and dedication of young chess players across the region. The event was held on the Swiss System for teams, with a time control of 15 minutes per player per game, with 10-second increments for each move. Stringent measures were implemented to prevent cheating, ensuring fair play and integrity. The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka awarded medals, trophies, and a DGT Chess clock to the deserving winners. The entire event was live-streamed on the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka's YouTube channel, with insightful commentaries by esteemed Grand Masters and renowned Sri Lankan chess champions. 🌍♟️
