39th Chess Olympiad: Round 1 Philippines IN A VERY,VERY EASY WIN!

The team Philippines easily defeated the lowly ranked Korean team, 4: 0 at the start of the 39th World Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansysk Sports Development Center. IM Richard Bitoon, who replaced GM Joey Antonio defeated Jung Young Hoon in only 29 moves of a Queens Indian Defense. (Antonio was ousted from the Philippine team when he preferred to play in the weekend tournament in the United States than to play in the $100,000 Campomanes Memorial,held in honor of Florencio Campomanes.) GM Wesley So beat CM Lee Sang Hoon in Board 1 battle. 

{GM So,played in the Campomanes Memorial despite coming from exhausting tournament, the Rising Star held in Netherland two days before the tournament,not afraid to loss Elo rating point against much lower rank but very well rested opponents.}  GM Darwin Laylo defeated Koreas top rank player  Chogdog Munkhbat in 46 mones of a Semi Slav wherein Black avoided the Meran variation. GM John Paul Gomez completed the rout beating Lee Kiyul in Board 2.
