Today I’ll walk you through a rock-solid opening repertoire you can start using immediately. No heavy theory. Just clear ideas that lead you to good middlegame positions.

You can download all variations completely for FREE:

What openings and lines does it cover?

For White:

  • Catalan
  • Slav Defense
  • Queen’s Gambit Accepted and all main sidelines
  • Benoni
  • Englund Gambit
  • Queen’s Indian Defense
  • Old Indian Defense
  • Grünfeld Defense
  • King’s Indian Defense
  • Dutch Defense

For Black:

  • French Defense and sidelines
  • French Defense - Exchange Variation
  • French Defense - Advance Variation
  • French Defense - Fort Knox
  • Queen’s Gambit Declined - Tartakower (Main Line)
  • Queen’s Gambit Declined - Tartakower vs London and other sidelines

To show you the style of this repertoire, let’s look at one piece of it - the Catalan. Your plan is simple:

  1. Take control of the center with d4 and c4
  2. Castle kingside with Nf3, g3, Bg2, 0-0
  3. Develop the queenside (often Nbd2, Qc2, b3, Bb2)
  4. Break in the center with e4 and start your attack

I also recorded a one-hour video where I show how this repertoire works in practice:
