Reviewing Games

I'm not sure I understand the review engine sometimes.  moves 6, 7, and 8 by Black are reviewed in order as "warning" "mistake" and "great move".  I see some reason for the negative assessment but it seems the great move wouldn't have happened without the preceding choices.  I'm curious how review engines are built and how we should think about "Game Accuracy" when exploring suboptimal lines of play.
