5 X Ray Puzzles you need to solve
Hi chess friends. It has been a tough week. I was playing a tournament; also working in lessons.... But everything was really good, and even when I didn’t have too much free time, I could manage it and here we have our weekly post. This time we are going to talk about X Ray. I selected 5 special positions to better understand this interesting tactical theme.
About my tournament, it was a really good experience. I did 3.5/5 as first board of my team “Artemisa University”, and had a nice 2446 performance. My team was 6th in the initial ranking, and we finished in a good 5th place, beating in the last match to the first place of the tournament (which had won all of the 6 previous matches). I’m planning to post some positions from this competition very soon. In 12 days “Capablanca Memorial” begins in Havana, and this was a great opportunity to get ready for the most important tournament I have in the year.
Coming back to our theme: We talk about X Ray, when one of our pieces is controlling some square even when there is some enemy piece in the middle. Let’s see some examples. I encourage you to try to find the solutions for some minutes.
In this video you can find variations and explanations for 5 selected diagrams.

Also, it’s important you to know, that if you feel you need to improve some particular tactical idea or theme you can do it on Chess.com Tactics Trainer (now with a new fresh structure), in the Learning Mode, in options, you can select the Theme you would like to practice (like X Ray).
If you liked this you can follow me clicking on the right side at the top of the post (or top of the comments in cells). I will be posting things like this often.
And if you think this is going to be helpful for your friends, share it with them.
