A Masterclass by Alexander Kotov (+ Video)
Hey guys!
Alexander Kotov was a Strong Soviet Grandmaster. Today we analyze an Epic Miniature where he attacked the King in the Center and won an amazingly instructive game. This is Kotov vs Kalmanok, Moscow 1937.
Kotov Plays Like A God | Amazing Chess Games | Attacking the King in the Center

Lessons from this Game:
- In French Defense, Classical Variation, the capture 6 … gxf6 after Bxf6 is very playable, however, we need to understand and be aware of the complexity of the position. Black won’t be able to castle Kingside, castling Queenside still takes some moves.
A good mass of pawns is covering Black King in the Center, but sometimes this is not going to be enough. - Improve your pieces as much as possible before the decisive moment comes. If your pieces are in the right squares, there will be tactic opportunities (thoroughly observe White pieces after move 15.Rhe1).
- An important principle for positions where the enemy King hasn’t castled is: Open the Center and some lines (see move 16.d5!!).
The King is a weakness in those positions, so we just want to guarantee the access lines to attack that weakness.
