Great Chess Masterpiece: Lputian vs Ivanchuk (+ Video)
Hi Chess enthusiasts. I saw this game in my database and I thought it was a very good one to analyze and share. It was played between Smbat Lputian vs Vassily Ivanchuk in Montecatini Terme, 2000. Ivanchuk is a fantastic player, and here he finds some amazing moves. It is interesting how unclear the position seems to be when Lputian resigns.

Lessons from this game
- A very bad pawn structure (like tripled and isolated pawns) could compensate in some positions one or two pawns down. Actually at some point Black even had three pawns down, but also White pieces were disconnected and in very bad squares.
- One of the main things we should study and enjoy in this game is the two instructive, surprising, and beautiful moves 15 and 25 from Ivanchuk (move 25 was not really played on the board, since Lputian resigned at 24).
