How to play Caro-Kann Defense (+ Video)
Hi everyone! Caro-Kann Defense is another interesting variation we can play as Black against King’s Pawn. It is a really safe line, where Black usually gets a solid position and a pawn structure without weaknesses. In this post/video there is an introduction to this defense, with general ideas, some plans for the middlegame, and some basic theory.

Complementary PGN about Caro-Kann Defense
Highlights about Caro-Kann Defense
- The mainline is 2.d4 and after d5 White can either advance, exchange, or protect e4.
- Also White can play Two Knights Variation with 2. Nf3 and 3. Nc3
- In some lines, White will have a very small space advantage as Black will keep an extremely healthy pawn structure.
Keep in mind that practice, experience, hard work, and learning from your mistakes is what is really going to help you to completely understand and include a new Opening in your repertoire. Hope this helps!
Good luck to everybody, and take care!!!
