Nice Endgame: King and Pawn beating King and Rook (+ Video)
Hello friends. When the material is reduced to King and Rook vs King and Pawn, usually we play for 2 results: a draw or a winning for the side with the rook. However, this week we analyze an interesting endgame where the pawn beats the rook, even when the David from this story is still in the 6th rank.

Some small news and comments
- Tata Steel: after 8 rounds Firouzja and Caruana are leading with 5.5. Looking at the opponents they still have in the 5 remaining games, Fabiano seems to have better possibilities to win the tournament (of course this is very relative). Carlsen is 1 point behind and got his first victory in this round.
- Women’s World Championship: Ju Wenjun won in round 9 (out of 12) against the challenger Aleksandra Goryachkina and now there is a tie again in this exciting match. Both women are great warriors; I feel they both deserve the title. (*** I am checking right before I post, and Ju Wenjun just won game 10, so she got an important advantage now)
