Typical Mating Patterns you should know... 2nd Part (+ Video)
Hello, friends of the 64 squares! Two weeks ago I prepared a post/video about four typical and important Mating Patterns. Today we have the second part of that publication, with some other four very common and interesting Mating Patterns we need to know and practice.
Video analyzing and explaining 4 important Mating Patterns
I invite you to subscribe. I will be uploading instructive videos for beginners and intermediate players at least every Monday.
Summary
Back-rank Mate: We use a Rook or a Queen. Opponent’s pieces block the flight over the second rank.
Blind Swine Mate: It’s given with two mighty Rooks on the 7th Rank. An opponent’s rook needs to be blocking.
Hook Mate: We need a Rook, Knight and Pawn and an opponent’s piece blocking one square in the basic position (The name is because White pieces are set like drawing a hook… I guess )
Smothered Mate: The final mate is only with a Knight, although we need at least a Queen to be able to give it with the basic idea. The enemy King is smothered by his own pieces.
Good luck to everybody, and take care!!!
Stay home as much as possible.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!!
