Returning to chess: Part 2 (Divisions and 2022 Chess.com DCC)
Hi fellow chessplayers,
Welcome to part 2 of my journey in getting better in chess. In this part i explain the methods i'm using in the 2 tournaments (The Chess Divisions and The 2022 Chess.com Daily Chess Cup).
In the beginning of the year i did entered the Chess.com DCC. 22 Matches on a daily bases so plenty of time to think about moves. I bought a book about the D2-D4 opening and used this for my 11 matches with white. I used post-its to mark where i could find all my matches, this helped me to at least safe a lot of time and have 2/3 options i could use every move. With still 16 of the matches are being played i feel a bit more confident about my game plans. With all higher ranked players against me i'm allready happy if i win a few matches.
Also this year i started with the Division Cup (Bullet/Blitz/Rapid/Arena matches), this in combination with a popular youtuber his new channel. I started with 3 rapid (10 minute) games been defeated. But after the rules i follow from the youtuber in his channel i won 3 games in a row. With an average of a (For my standards) stunning 80% accuracy! The goal here is to reach the next division and also to reach a 50% winrate (Now on 45%).
A hint to my fellow low elo players to get better in chess:
- Follow some youtubers and wright down their tips.
- Purchase yourself an opening book to get used with at least 1 opening (For example D2-D4 and the common steps after that) and stick for a while to that opening.
- Try not to trade all your pieces in the beginning but slowly develop your pieces.
Good luck to you guys and thanks for reading the blog.
Greetings,
Milan
