Accidental sandbagging

Accidental sandbagging

I didn't know what sandbagging was until I got a "sandbagging warning" that seemed to prevent me from getting any more arena game match-ups. So I search the help pages and find out that sandbagging means intentionally lowering your rating. I know I kept losing but it was not my intention. I blame Chess.com for repeatedly not being on my side.

reconnecting? Abandonment.

This is a typical example where the first moves go normally and then everything stops, and finally ends prematurely. Obviously, I wasn't disconnected from the internet. As soon as the time ran out, I got the "game abandoned" notice. I was just disconnected from the game, for whatever reason.

There is something else to the story, though. The past week or so, I've been intentionally playing worse than I can in that as white, I play the English opening (c4) instead of the London system (d4). I reached my peak rating playing the London system so I've become familiar with the common lines and I can make quick decisions far into the middle game, often with a positional advantage or a time advantage or both. But I wanted to get some practice playing the English opening so grinding some bullet arenas seemed like the way to go. Well, it hasn't gone very smoothly. In addition to falling into every possible trap, I keep making the wrong premoves, not knowing what to anticipate.

Premove blunder

I seem to often miss cxd5 because of a premove and after that it's just misery when black plays d4 or dxc4 and your white bishop went to g2. The English opening is very tricky - but is it sandbagging???
