The Hurt Heal Times: Week 6
Introduction
Hello there, and welcome to the sixth edition of the Hurt/Heal Times. This week we had the end to the war and the first of many betrayals. We saw the entertainment of active people scrambling to survive as well as some (like Marie) just deciding they’ve had enough. But without further ado, I’m BermudanPM and let’s get into it.

The Game This Week
Now this week was quite chaotic and had lots of events and a fair bit of activity. There were a few stories but I’ll start with the obvious one and that is the war. Last week we saw the war going crazy with Toast’s alliance dominating with the help of Cosmic. Last week had the addition of many key figures trying to defeat Mjtcan’s alliance which ended up working, however, the two key members of that alliance, Mjtcan and Carlsen, are still trying to find a way to survive. But first let’s talk about how the war ended. Last week we saw Toast begin the war by attacking Mjt and Cosmic jumping on which led to many going for Mjt and his alliance. Tarbo also joined in and helped Mjt but that did not work out as his entire alliance died. But Cosmic’s alliance seemed to be winning and took out a few key members of the alliance such as Author and Cactus about a week ago. Ever since then we have seen Mjtcan and Carlsen rapidly losing lives and Deflection moving into second place. This was when Carlsen decided to call it a loss, especially with Mjtcan being inactive. Both of them tried to work with Cosmic and Carlsen with the lesser members of the alliance being taken down. However, unsurprisingly, some would still prefer it if they were dead. Carlsen has been able to find his footing and is looking like he could survive for a bit. Mjtcan on the other hand hasn’t found a place and has had people hurting him everyday. This is likely because we have lesser numbers and people need someone to hurt but what I’m interested in is that it seems the alliances have conflicting ideas about what to do with Mjt. Some people want him dead but others don’t want to hurt him. It’ll be interesting to see where he goes from now on but it isn’t going to be easy for him to stay alive.
In news related to this we are now down to 20 players, most of them either part of Toast or Cosmic’s alliance, which means there are bound to be some betrayals. We’ve already seen some with Marie basically quitting the game and SD-G and Antz being fed to the Hurt/Heal hounds. It's going to make it difficult to get it narrowed down to just 5. I think we can almost guarantee that Cosmic will win but it’ll be interesting who can squeeze into the top 10 and 5. Going inactive at this point in the game could be the death of you but the game could also spiral out into Cosmic trying to stop Toast betraying his allies but we will see. Cosmic has given up on a few allies as has Toast but it’ll be interesting to see if either side is going to give up on more loyal allies that are lower down or will both sides try to keep them alive, and leave us with neither side wanting to give up anyone. It seems this game could go two ways and in the upcoming week or two we will find out which way that is.
Interviews
This week I was only able to get 2 interviews because of timezones but both were very insightful and interesting. We had both Quirrel and Bestor, two loyal members of Toast’s alliance give interesting interviews, and provide us their thoughts on their positions, strategies and predictions. Grammatical errors fixed in production. Not only that, we got an interview with the host herself.
Quirrel
Quirrel is currently in the top 10 and an influential member of Toast’s alliance. He provided us with some good insight on his thoughts and predictions. He first talked about his current strategy saying: “I’m 8th I think right now and consistently getting heals” Then adding to that by stating his current strategy: “Literally just go 3 HEAL TRADES REMAINING every day and it’s just 3 free heals per day”
When I asked him about the war’s impact on his personal position he said it “Didn’t actually effect me that much but it seems to have worked out”
Finally, I asked him about the leaderboard and how he wants to narrow it down and he said: “I really don’t know I’m starting to run out of people to hurt so I think my run will end soon”
I enjoyed this interview because it gave me a closer look into his thoughts, plans and opinions on the game.
Bestor
Now, despite being a newcomer, Bestor has really risen into a good position in the game and it showed it in this interview. He showed his confidence as well as surprise with his position. One of the best answers describing this was when he stated: “In the last interview I said my goal is being in the top 10 and I’m almost guaranteed top 10 let’s be honest. I’m currently sitting at 7th and I need only 2 lives to go past Toast in 6th. I might even get to top 5 but the most realistic result would be top 10.”
An answer perfectly demonstrating his surprise was when he said: “I’m very surprised by 1. Almost and maybe even beating toast and 2. High chances of reaching 100 lives.”
Now, when asked about the war he decided to say this: “Well I saw from the very beginning that Toast and Mjt were rivals. Toast was first to offer me allying with him and that’s how I did as I was inexperienced, but trusted Toast. In the end my alliance won and in that few day bombing period, I tried to stay as neutral as possible because I felt I would benefit from it by being at Toast’s side, but not hurting Mjt’s side (except Cactus lol).”
I thought this interview perfectly articulated his state of mind and position in the game, which ended up in a great interview for everyone.
Reflection
This week I was able to get a small interview with the host Reflection. She gave a few words on her thoughts on the game and what she thought of hosting. Unsurprisingly, she said she doesn’t think she did a good job and did not enjoy it at all. I asked her what are her favourite moments in the game and she said: “When it’s quiet so I can forget about it ☺️” Again I wasn’t surprised about this answer but I would say that it’s pretty easy to tell that she wouldn’t do it again. One thing she said about how she was feeling about game however, was this: “Crashing out bc was rooting for mjt, so now I’m rooting for deef bc mjt looks cooked
also crazy bc like teh hh I’ve been in with cosmic he was like super quick to die”
Overall being the host, it was always going to be a good interview, and it was, despite it being small. Luckily it did give us a bit of insight into her thought process.
Conclusion
This week has been insane, from wars to betrayals to everyone trying to figure out who to hurt. We’ve had two great interviews and some interesting points of view. But until next time, goodbye.
