Chess Rules and Ethics

There is often a conflict between rules and ethics. One of the most frustating rules that I have encountered is the touch piece rule. While I understand that the rule prevents the player from distracting the opponent, it certainly prevents a new player from several victories. A true sport and a experienced player should not deny a newcommer the opportunity. And that in my opinion is ethics. In other words, any sport should give opportunity foir the players to bring the best in them and not deny based on silly rules.

For the readers hindsight: how would you feel if at work, a person is promoted based on age when another candidate has the merit?
